About

Welcome to “From Homer to Austen” – a website dedicated to classical education, homeschooling, literature, and more! Our vision for homeschooling embraces a rigorous education that nourishes the minds, bodies, and souls of our children, recognizing them as whole persons made in the image of God. Education, to us, means the transmission of wisdom and culture through the ages and generations.

As a close-knit and loving family, we have found profound joy in homeschooling. Through this site, we aim to share our practical experience from homeschooling and parenting our three children, as well as provide valuable insights into literature, history, science, and other subjects. We are not experts, by any means, but we hope to shed light on anything we learn along our journey.

The name “From Homer to Austen” holds a special significance. It draws inspiration from Homer, the legendary epic poet known for the Iliad and the Odyssey – foundational works of ancient Greece and Western civilization. The second part of our name pays homage to Jane Austen, the great Regency English novelist. Together, “From Homer to Austen” symbolizes a connection that spans from ancient Greece to the 1800s, and even into modern times.

We invite you to join us as we celebrate the beauty of classical education, homeschooling, and the richness of literature and culture. Together, let’s embrace the legacy of the past and inspire future generations to greatness.
